Despite advances in recent years, reports still suggest that women are less likely to choose a career in science and technology than men. Girls Who Code estimates that fewer than 1 in 5 computer science graduates are women and that by 2022 the USA will need two million cybersecurity jobs, but women currently make up only 10 percent of the cybersecurity workforce. Role models can play a significant part in inspiring girls and young women and engaging them with STEM subjects. It is our responsibility to break down conventions and encourage girls from a young age and keep them engaged through their teenage years and beyond.
