Over 60% of the cellular IoT modules in the United States are on 2G/3G systems. The carriers are looking to close down these networks as they move to the more efficient solutions of 4G and 5G. While the hype suggests the 5G is right around the corner for distributed and remote solutions like industrial IoT, the use of 4G should be considered as the next step. In addition to these networks we are seeing alternative networks like LoRaWAN and Private LTE coming of age. What is the criteria that should be used to determine the next network to deploy?
